Since 2013, over 9 billion records were breached. Only 4% of them were described as “secure breaches” because they were encrypted. As a result of encryption, the data was rendered useless.
So why aren’t organisations being made to encrypt personal data that is being held? Why isn’t government encrypting our personal data? Why do our laws give “slap on the wrists” instead of major penalties and compulsory credit watch for customers.
